5 Ways to Inspire Creativity in the Office with Interior Decor

Creativity and inspiration do not always come easy, it also comes easier to some then to others. We all have “off and on” days when it comes to creativity. Whether you are a writer, designer, engineer or accountant you can benefit from these tips. We all like to feel inspired and motivated, that is how we move forward and keep business flowing.

Now that the holiday season is over and we have to get back to work, here are five ideas on how to make your office into an inspirational workplace that will promote creativity and success.

1. Make the Office feel more like home.

When we are comfortable and relaxed that is when our minds work best. Have you ever noticed how you can be sitting in front of your desk staring into space and not being able to come up with any ideas and then on your day off when you sit down on your couch with a cup of hot coffee, (no pressure!) and the ideas start to flow. Make your office feel like home by using comfortable furniture that doesn’t necessarily look like they belong in an office. It has become more and more popular to work at a bar, at a coffee shop, from home, so why not bring that feeling to your office? Hide all your paperwork in creative storage spaces, keep the coffee machine accessible and use a nice personal mug for your coffee.

2. Ad interesting wall art.

To get creative and to come up with new ideas we need inspiration. Put a little extra effort into finding wall art that appeals to you. Having something beautiful to look at promotes creativity. If you like modern art, perhaps try framing posters, you can even change the posters every few months to give the office a new look and once again renew inspiration and creativity. If you like folk art, perhaps try something original like macramé wall hangings.

3. Have a visual weekly/monthly planner.

Nowadays we usually keep our schedule on our digital calendar. I highly recommend having a weekly or monthly planner printed up and pinned on a bulletin board or perhaps write it on a white board or chalk board. I’m not saying you should get rid of the digital planner but this can be an addition. It is good to be able to see the week/month ahead. Many of us are very visual and once we see it written down, mapped out in front of us, it becomes a lot more clear and it will be easier to remember.

4. Be organized.

Keep your desk tidy. This is a seemingly simple point but it is a very important one. A tidy space gives us the freedom and peace of mind to focus on the important tasks. If our desk is a mess, our mind is a mess. If our work space is kept organized and your filing is up to date, you can start the day from the get-go.

5. Bring plants indoors, not just to your home, but also to your office.

Let’s face it, plants have a real feel good vibe, it is scientifically proven that plants indoors have many benefits. They provide cleaner air, more oxygen, better mood, they enhance concentration and memory. If we feel good, we work even better, plus they are very pretty. Bring in some plant hangers or big pots, or even a little succulent on your desk. The more greenery the better.

I hope you find this useful. Good luck redecorating your work place. I am happy to offer you personal advice on redecorating your office into a haven of creativity.
